Prof. JUMADILOV TALKYBEK -70TH ANNIVERSARY!
The conference is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Honored Kazakh scientist, academician, member of the American Chemical Society, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor in the field of physical chemistry of polymers and sorption technology Jumadilov Talkybek Kozhataevich.
The scientific life of Talkybek Kozhataevich a serves as an example of selfless service to domestic chemical science and training of highly qualified personnel. After graduating with a gold medal from boarding school No. 12 in Shymkent, he enters the chemical faculty of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov (Alma-Ata). Since the third year of the university, he begins to conduct his first scientific experiments on the synthesis and study of the kinetics of copolymerization of vinyl monomers during their radical polymerization under the guidance of Prof. Kurmanaliev O.Sh. At the age of 32, he defended his candidate of chemical sciences thesis, and at 43, his doctoral dissertation under the scientific supervision of Academician E.A. Bekturov.
He awarded a Soros Foundation grant for his publications in highly rated journals. For deep scientific research, he was awarded a state scholarship for outstanding scientists. Academician T.K. Jumadilov conducted a series of studies on the creation of ion-conducting molecular complexes in non-aqueous media, studied the hydrodynamic and conformational properties of amphoteric polyelectrolytes, rheological properties of high-viscosity oils of Kazakhstan in the presence of depressor additives. A considerable amount of work was devoted to the establishment of patterns of interaction of functional polymers with various classes of compounds.
The developments of the last years were aimed at developing highly selective polymer sorbents based on interpolymer systems and activated ionites on a fundamentally new scientific basis. To describe the equilibrium in interpolymer systems, researchers have created the «Jumadilov’s effect» theory. The study of the «long-range effect» and the discovery of the phenomenon of abnormal activity of functional groups of polyelectrolytes during their remote interaction, according to foreign experts, represents a new trend of the XXI century in chemical science. The development of research in this field stimulates the emergence of new scientific directions and technologies with fundamentally original technical solutions.
Prof. Jumadilov Talkybek is the author of 2 scientific discoveries, over 500 scientific papers, 8 fundamental monographs, a Russian-Kazakh dictionary of chemical terms, 6 review articles, 4 innovative patents, 4 pre-patents for a utility model. Under his leadership, 15 candidate of chemical sciences theses were defended, and 3 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) were prepared.
